Objectives and topics

Arabic Natural Language Processing (Arabic NLP) is a crucial challenge in the field of computational linguistics. This is due to rich grammatical structure, complex morphology and orthographic ambiguity of Arabic. Moreover, there are many dialects of Arabic and there are big differences between them. These different characteristics of the Arabic language make the NLP tasks more complex and require effective methods.

In the last decade, deep learning approaches have obtained very high performance across in many different NLP tasks and has gained significant interest in the Arabic community.
The DLANLP 2022 Special Session at the 14th International Conference on Computational Collective Intelligence (ICCCI 2022) aims to bring together the current research progress on Deep Learning architectures focusing in Arabic NLP applications (text, audio, image, and video).
The main topics of this invited session include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Big data with Deep Neural Networks
  • Information extraction
  • Image and video processing using NLP Techniques
  • Sentiment analysis
  • Named entity recognition and disambiguation
  • Text classification and summarization
  • Social media analytics
  • Optical character recognition
  • Speech synthesis
  • Arabic dialect modeling
  • Machine translation
  • Pattern recognition
